Event Details: The 67th Annual Corpus Christi Regional Golden Gloves Boxing Championships are back on February 18 – 20, 2010. The event is sponsored by The Kiwanis Club of Corpus Christi Bay and will be held at the American Bank Center Exhibit Hall.
More than 165 male and female participants are expected to compete in more than 20 bouts on a nightly basis. Currently, 23 teams from the Coastal Bend Area will participate including teams from Laredo, Aransas Pass, Victoria, Alice, Kingsville, Robstown, Karnes City, Benavides and Corpus Christi.
The Open Division winners (10 divisions) featuring boxers from the age of 17 through 34 will advance to the State Golden Gloves Tournament to be held March 3 – 6, 2010 in Fort Worth, Texas with the opportunity to advance to the National Golden Gloves Tournament in May 2010.
Scheduled to participate are two recent State Golden Gloves Champions, Oscar Cantu from the Kingsville Boxing Club and EJ Rodriguez from the 2nd Chance Boxing Club in Aransas Pass.
