It’s Official! The af2 Corpus Christi team will now be known as the Corpus Christi Sharks. The announcement was made today at a luncheon attended by high-profile City and business leaders.

The name was chosen out of more than two-thousand entries in the “Name the Team” contest held last month. The winner of the contest is Ruben Perez from Portland. Mr. Perez will be presented with two game jerseys and two season tickets to see the af2 Corpus Christi Sharks kick off their first season in March 2007.

Along with announcing the name, Team Owner, Joe Avezzano and Head Coach, Michael Trigg also unveiled the Sharks’ team logo and colors. The newest members of the American Bank Center family will proudly sport Blue and Gold uniforms.

American Bank Center Arena is excited and honored to host the newest professional league of sports entertainment in Corpus Christi. Sports fans in Corpus Christi and surrounding areas have already given the af2 a warm welcome by embracing the opportunity to name the team. The opening season and those to follow will undoubtedly be a success.
