June 1, 2007 - American Bank Center Selena Auditorium celebrates its 29th birthday! Since opening in 1978, the theater has received tremendous support over the years from millions of patrons packing the house to watch their favorite stars shine onstage. The auditorium seats over 2,500 and serves as an integral part of the American Bank Center complex.
Selena Auditorium’s list of legendary performers seems endless and includes Carlos Mencia, Ray Charles, John Denver, Debbie Reynolds, Jay Leno, David Copperfield and Carlos Santana. The auditorium also has played host to world-renown ballet groups, numerous European orchestras and Broadway shows.
American Bank Center Selena Auditorium holds an outstanding acoustical rating and has been one of the most attended venues for entertainment in the Coastal Bend. As stated by General Manager Marc Solis, “Since SMG was awarded the city contract in 2004, the Selena Auditorium has seen a re-birth of theatrical, stand-up, and cultural performances.”
Next month, Selena Auditorium will host Grammy Award winning country music icon, George Jones, performing on June 16th at 8pm. Other upcoming performances include Air Supply, Ambrosia and John Ford Coley on June 22nd at 8pm, as well as the acclaimed Tenerife Symphony Orchestra on July 6th at 8pm.
